Aeromexico, Mexico's global airline, together with its partner Delta Air Lines announced the launch of a new route from Atlanta to Merida beginning today.

The capital city of the Mexican State of Yucatan has seen significant growth in the tourism and business sectors in recent years. In 2017, it was ranked as one of the cities with the highest quality of life in Mexico thanks to its cultural offerings and investment opportunities.

In Merida, tourism and commercial development are expected to increase as the route connects directly to Delta Air Lines largest hub and one of the busiest airports in the world, where customers will enjoy access to 148 destinations in the United States and Canada. 

The route will be operated utilizing Embraer 190 jet airliners with 99 passenger seats, including 11 in Clase Premier, Aeromexico's Business Class Cabin, with the following flight schedules:

While celebrating the opening of this new route, Jorge Goytortua, Aeromexico’s Senior Vice President of Global Sales, said, "This route represents yet another success of our transborder partnership that will allow us to connect southeastern Mexico with the main hub of our commercial partner, Delta Air Lines like never before."

"For the State of Yucatan, the announcement represents new opportunities for business and tourism," said the Rolando Zapata Bello, Governor of the State of Yucatan. "This will help to spread the word that Merida is a city with tradition that also celebrates the dynamism of modernity."
