GOL Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes, Delta’s partner in Brazil, recently announced the launch of “Selfie Check-in,” the world’s first app to use facial recognition to allow customers to check in. It will be available for all domestic and international flights starting June.
"Selfie Check-in is an example of GOL’s new model, which seeks to better respect our customers' time by providing fast and convenient services, recognizing them as the central focus of our business,” said Mauricio Parise, GOL's Director — Marketing. “We are not just following a trend; we are always seeking innovative ways to deliver more value to our customers through technology."
This new feature, which checks in customers by capturing their facial biometry, highlights GOL's continuous investment in developing modern technologies to offer customers a better travel experience. In addition to the mobile app, GOL’s customers can choose from a variety of online channels to check in early, including computers, tablets and smartphones. Additionally, GOL offers customers the option to check in via private message on Twitter.
Delta is also committed to providing its customers the best overall experience, leading the airline industry in app technology innovation. Delta was the first airline to offer canceled or delayed flight rebooking via its app and the first to offer RFID bag tracking to give customers visibility to their bag’s journey.
