Deborah Wheeler will join Delta Feb. 6, as Chief Information Security Officer. In this role Wheeler will lead Delta’s efforts to secure and protect information that is important to Delta and personal to our customers, while continuing to ensure the overall cyber resiliency of the airline. She will be a member of Delta’s IT senior leadership team and report to Rahul Samant, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer.

Wheeler’s 25 years in the technology sector include 20 years in financial services. Over the past 12 years she served as the CISO at Fifth Third Bank, Ally Financial and, most recently, Freddie Mac. Debbie has also held information security leadership roles at JPMorgan Chase and PNC Bank.
Wheeler will lead the high-performing Delta Information Security team responsible for the airline’s cyber security efforts. Her experience and skills will help bring Delta to the next level as a leading technology company and the preferred global airline for customers, employees and investors.
Wheeler earned the People’s Choice Award for CISO of the Year in 2007 and has served on the Customer Advisory Boards for Symantec and Axent Technologies. She holds both CISSP and CRISC certifications and is a graduate of the University of Colorado with a degree in Information Systems Management. Wheeler will be based in Atlanta.
