Stephen E. Gorman

Stephen E. Gorman is executive vice president and chief operating officer of Delta Air Lines.

 

In his current position, Steve leads the team responsible for safe, reliable operations across the globe, including more than 69,000 employees in Airport Customer Service; Corporate Safety, Security and Compliance; Delta Connection; Delta Global Services; Delta Private Jets; Flight Operations; In-Flight Service; Operations Control Center; Supply Chain Management; and Technical Operations.

 

Under his leadership, Delta customers have experienced significant improvement in operational reliability, with Delta now consistently ranking at or near the top in on-time flights; baggage handling; flights completed and customer complaints, as reported monthly in the Department of Transportation Air Travel Consumer Report. In addition, Delta TechOps is the largest airline Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) business in North America, contributing annual revenue over $600 million.

 

Prior to Delta, Steve served as chief executive officer of Greyhound Lines, Inc., where he spearheaded their four-year financial turnaround. He has also served as president of the North America division for Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. and executive vice president of Flight Operations and Technical Operations at Northwest Airlines. He joined Delta in 2007.  

 

Currently, he is the Chair of Delta’s Diversity Council, which is focused on accelerating talent development and diverse leadership within the company. Other directorships include chairman of the Board of Directors for Pinnacle Airlines, Inc. from 2003 to 2007 and director for Rohn Industries, Inc. from 2000 to 2003 and TIMCO Aviation Services, Inc. from 2001 to 2004.

 

In addition, he is on the Dean’s Advisory Council for the University of Michigan School of Art and Design and the Business Leaders for Michigan.

 

Steve has a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Eureka College and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Bradley University.
