Hank Halter
is Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Delta Air Lines. As CFO, Hank is responsible for the finance and planning of Delta’s $35 billion operation, directs development of annual and long-range business plans and works closely with operating units to ensure financial performance objectives are achieved. In particular, he oversees treasury, tax, risk management, accounting and reporting, financial planning and analysis, fleet strategy, and investor relations.

Hank came to Delta in 1998 from American Airlines where he held various positions in corporate reporting, financial planning, and corporate real estate. Prior to his tenure with American, he was a Senior Accountant in the Philadelphia office of Ernst & Young LLP.


Over the last several years, Hank has played an integral role in restructuring Delta’s balance sheet and cost structure to be among the best in the airline industry. To facilitate Delta’s exit from bankruptcy, Hank led development of the emergence plan and set the financial strategy.  Under Hank’s leadership, Delta is delivering on its multi-year plan to delever its balance sheet through a $7 billion debt reduction. These financial achievements will maximize Delta’s flexibility and enhance shareholder value creation.

Hank holds a masters degree in business administration from Duke University and a bachelor of science in accountancy from Villanova University, where he graduated summa cum laude. He is a certified public accountant. In addition to being a member of the Board of Directors of the Delta Community Credit Union and Atlanta Police Foundation, Hank also serves on the Board of Trustees of the Delta Heritage Museum and on the Advisory Board for the Atlanta Chapter of the CFO Roundtable.  He is a frequent speaker on financial leadership and governance at professional forums and major business schools.

 Originally from Savannah, Ga., Hank now resides in Atlanta.
