Delta Offers Triple Miles Toward Medallion Status For Worldwide Travel

World’s largest airline provides SkyMiles® and WorldPerks® members fastest track to elite qualification

Mar 23, 2009

ATLANTA, March 23, 2009 – Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) is offering SkyMiles and Northwest WorldPerks members up to triple flown miles toward elite status on select fares purchased for travel through June 15, 2009.

Members worldwide may purchase First, Business and premium Economy fares and earn triple the miles flown toward elite status, while members who purchase discounted Economy fares will earn double the miles flown toward elite status. Members purchasing deeply discounted Economy fares will continue to earn the actual miles flown toward elite status.

For example, a member flying Delta round-trip, nonstop between Atlanta and Tokyo will receive 13,700 elite miles – the actual miles flown – on a deeply discounted Economy fare. With this offer, a member purchasing a premium fare for the same itinerary will earn 41,100 elite miles and a member purchasing a discounted Economy fare will earn 27,400 elite miles, both of which would qualify a member for Silver Medallion® status.

SkyMiles members who earn at least 25,000 elite qualification miles in one calendar year qualify for Medallion status, which enables them to receive exclusive benefits including complimentary upgrades, priority boarding, mileage bonuses, preferred seating and more. Additional information about Delta’s elite status and the SkyMiles program is available at delta.com/skymiles.

“As the world’s largest airline, not only do we fly customers to more than 300 destinations worldwide, we now offer WorldPerks and SkyMiles members the fastest track to elite status,” said Jeff Robertson, Delta’s vice president of Loyalty Programs.

To participate in this offer, SkyMiles members must enroll at delta.com/elite, and WorldPerks members can enroll at nwa.com/offers/triple.

This bonus applies only to miles counting towards Medallion/Elite status. Medallion and Elite Qualification Segments – another way to qualify for elite status – are not included in this promotion. Qualifying flights include any Delta, Northwest, Mesaba, Pinnacle, Compass or Delta Connection® carrier fight. Codeshare flights operated by carriers other than Northwest or Delta Connection carriers are excluded from this offer.  Additional terms and conditions apply.
