Delta to Add Third Daily Service from London Heathrow to Atlanta

Increased connections to hundreds of destinations, online connectivity at 30,000 feet

Dec 6, 2012

LONDON, 6 December 2012 – Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) will add a third daily flight between London’s Heathrow Airport and Atlanta’s Hartsfield Jackson International Airport, effective 31 March 2013. The flight will maximize travel opportunities for customers transiting at the world’s largest airport by offering them a greater choice of flights from London, making onward connections to more than 150 destinations even easier.

Customers flying on Delta’s new Atlanta service from London Heathrow will also benefit from in-flight Internet access. From early 2013, the airline will begin installing Wi-Fi on its fleet of more than 150 international aircraft, using high-bandwidth Ku-band capacity satellites to provide global coverage. Delta will be the first and only airline offering online access at 30,000 feet on nonstop flights between the U.K. and the United States.

“In just five years, we will have gone from no Heathrow flights to nine daily nonstop services to five U.S. cities,” said Perry Cantarutti, Delta’s senior vice president Europe, the Middle East and Africa. “We are also responding to customer demand for more comfort and convenience and the roll-out of our in-flight Wi-Fi from the UK means business customers in particular can stay connected throughout their journey or simply relax and enjoy a full flat-bed seat.”

The third daily flight was announced at the official opening of Delta’s 360˚ Lounge in London. Delta became the ‘Official Airline Partner of Chelsea Football Club’ in June this year and the lounge at the club’s Stamford Bridge ground forms part of the sponsorship agreement. Located within the Millennium and Copthorne Hotel, it is used exclusively by Delta on match days and is open to hotel guests and members of the public at other times. Cantarutti added, “This is our first commercial sponsorship of a Premier League side. London is now home-from-home for Delta and, thanks to our partnership with Chelsea FC, our brand is reaching thousands more customers every day.”

Top destinations for Delta customers flying to Atlanta from London Heathrow include Orlando, Tampa, Las Vegas, Jacksonville, Los Angeles and Miami, which are all available to customers taking any Atlanta flight. Passengers traveling from London Heathrow already benefit from more convenient connections at the new, state-of-the-art international terminal which was opened at Atlanta’s Hartsfield Jackson International Airport in May this year.
