As customers pack their bags for the perfect summer getaway, Delta will be dishing out seasonally inspired offerings on board to make their travel a little sweeter.
The new offerings, which launch June 1, are part of Delta’s industry-leading culinary strategy to offer constant refreshes for even the most seasoned travelers. The airline is committed to offering an ever-changing variety of fresh, local and seasonal food and beverage options to enhance the on-board customer experience.
Summer menus sizzle in Delta One
Customers traveling in Delta One, including transcontinental flights between JFK and LAX/SFO, DCA-LAX and BOS-SFO, will enjoy fresh, summer flavors woven into dishes onboard June through August.
Depending on the destination, menus will feature culinary creations by Delta’s in-house and partner chef Linton Hopkins as well as select chefs from Union Square Hospitality Group.
Whether customers are jet-setting across the globe for a little fun in the sun or heading back home, Hopkins’ summer menu pays tribute to his roots — the American south. Delta One customers who are flying on select routes to Europe outbound from Atlanta are able to enjoy his latest menu, which will be featured on board from June 1 to August 31. Highlights include Peppered Bistro Steak, Roasted Chicken Breast, Chesapeake Bay Crab Cakes and Storico Fresco Spring Smoked Eggplant Ravioli.
Beginning June 1, customers flying in the Delta One cabin on select trans-Atlantic routes to Europe, and transcontinental flights between JFK and LAX/SFO, will enjoy meals created by chefs from some of Union Square Hospitality Group’s beloved restaurants in New York City.
Delta has partnered with Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group since December of 2015 to feature seasonally-rotating menus designed by its chefs. The “Best of Union Square Hospitality Group” menu will feature signature dishes from USHG favorites, including rustic Italian entrees from Maialino and Marta, and American classics from Union Square Cafe and Union Square Events.
Beginning this summer, Delta’s South American menu will also receive an upgrade from its current pan-regional offerings to a selection of delicious options created by South American chefs with seasonal and local ingredients.
Prosecco at 30,000 feet?
Bubbles aren’t just for special occasions, and they’re not just for Delta One customers either. Beginning June 1, Delta will offer sparkling wine for all customers traveling in North America. Customers traveling in First Class and Delta Comfort+ can enjoy complimentary Prosecco, while Main Cabin customers can purchase either Avissi or La Marca Prosecco (based on the offering) for $9.
Later this summer, sparkling wine will also expand to international Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin as a complimentary option.
Life through rosé-colored wine glasses
To prepare for the busy travel season, Master Sommelier Andrea Robinson has hand-selected a variety of wines from across the globe that evoke the locales of summer, one glass at a time.
With crisp, lively white wines and exciting, savory reds, customers will have a world of flavor to discover and explore from their seats. And the global frenzy over dry rosé has not subsided this year — in fact, it’s intensified, so including the refreshing Château du Puget rosé in the summer lineup was a must.
Customers can also indulge in a selection of dessert wine, port or champagne, all hand-picked by Robinson. A full list of the 2017 summer wine selections can be found here.
Enjoy Macallan neat or on the rocks
Beginning June 1, customers traveling in Delta One can enjoy Macallan Double Cask 12-year Single Malt Scotch Whisky. This premium Scotch combines the delicate flavor of American oak, including vanilla, citrus and light oak, with the traditional Macallan European oak character of dried fruit, sherry and wood spice for a familiar backdrop.
The result is a fresh and approachable style of Macallan — rich in flavor, honeyed and indulgent, with a full, viscous mouth feel. This new addition joins other premium spirit offerings, including Grey Goose Vodka and Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Whiskey that customers can enjoy when traveling in Delta One.
