Delta is using innovative solutions to help its customers get through security lines more quickly this summer. The airline’s partnership with CLEAR, the only U.S. biometric identity platform that expedites document checks at TSA security check points, and ongoing investments in additional automated screening lanes means Delta customers breeze through security lines in minutes.

“Last summer we piloted the very first automated-screening lanes of any airline, this summer we’ve got forty of them deployed at our hubs,” said Gil West, Chief Operating Officer. “We’ve got a good summer plan and the combination of CLEAR and the new ASL lanes, it’s unbeatable.”

Delta was the first airline to invest in the implementation of automated screening lanes (ASLs) last summer and the TSA praised Delta’s effort at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport which increased throughput by 30 percent in early tests. That number keeps improving and the airline is raising the bar by adding 40 automated screening lanes this summer in key markets, including:

  •          22 ASLs already online at Atlanta’s Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport (2 from 2016)
  •          17 ASLs in the works between T2 and T4 at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport
  •          3 ASLs being installed at Los Angeles International Airport

And the airline continues to work with airports and the TSA in its top markets to identify opportunities for further ASL implementation. In fact, six ASLs are planned for LaGuardia Airport and four ASLs are planned for Minneapolis–St. Paul International Airport later this year.

Thanks to Delta’s partnership with CLEAR, U.S.-based Delta SkyMiles Members enjoy an exclusive rate to enroll in the service that expedites long security lines including complimentary membership for Delta Diamond Medallion Members.
