Delta today filed applications with the U.S. Department of Transportation to operate daytime service between Tokyo-Haneda airport and Los Angeles, Minneapolis and Atlanta. Delta applied for the routes we believe are in the best interest of our customers and will provide both the greatest direct and connecting opportunities from the U.S. to Haneda.
A U.S. and Japanese aviation agreement reached in February allows for 10 Tokyo-Haneda airport daytime slots for trans-Pacific flights –five for U.S. carriers and five for Japanese carriers, and one nighttime slot for each country. The DOT issued an order in March to open a competitive bid for all six U.S. slots.
