It didn’t take long for Delta to bounce back from last week’s operational disruption. The airline Saturday posted a mainline cancellation-free day and canceled just a handful of flights on Sunday* as a result of a security issue at New York’s JFK International Airport.
Dave Holtz, Delta’s Senior Vice President—Operations and Customer Center, said last week's three-day operations disruption - caused by a power loss, not by the operations team - was in the past. During the disruption, Delta was forced to cancel considerably more flights than it had during all of 2016 up to that point.
“Being a reliable airline isn’t just lip service, it’s something our employees deliver on daily and we’re back to the operationally strong airline our customers know us to be,” said Holtz. “We've done everything possible to draw that line in the sand after last week's disruption.”
