The University of Georgia has announced Delta CEO Ed Bastian will deliver this year’s spring undergraduate commencement address.

A father of a UGA student and alumna, Bastian will share his advice with the Class of 2022 between the hedges in Sanford Stadium at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 13, as they embark on their futures beyond the classroom walls.

“I’m thrilled to deliver the commencement address for an institution that is very close to my heart, as I know is true for so many Delta people,” Bastian said. “The Delta family is full of many brilliant Dawgs, and I look forward to sending the Class of 2022 off into their very bright futures.”

Bastian spoke at the University of Richmond and Georgia Tech last spring, where he shared important life lessons based on his personal experiences with the graduating classes. These lessons included how your character is revealed through the choices you make, committing yourself to lifelong learning, developing confidence in yourself and enriching our lives through service.

Named a top CEO of 2021 in Glassdoor’s Employees’ Choice Awards and among the ‘World’s 50 Greatest Leaders’, Bastian’s lessons in servant leadership will position the graduates well for the next step of their lives. In his address to the University of Richmond last spring, he shared "The world is ready to be led by those who don't run from their fears but lead through them. Who recognize their calling is not solely in their technical prowess but their ability to touch a heart and heal the wounds of your community. To serve society with compassion, with empathy gained from the experience we've all just been through," Bastian said. "I truly don't believe there has ever been a more exciting time to embark in the pursuit of your dreams and leave your personal mark on our world than right now."
