ATLANTA, Feb. 21, 2006 – Delta Air Lines is rewarding Platinum Medallion® SkyMiles members with the ability to redeem miles for a variety of merchandise through the new “Medallion Marketplace.” Beginning in March, U.S.-based Platinum Medallion members can easily access the Marketplace online at delta.com and redeem their miles for hundreds of travel and non-travel related merchandise.
“We’re constantly looking for compelling ways to reward our most loyal customers, and this new benefit will provide redemption options and relevant rewards to Platinum Medallions, giving them even more reasons to choose Delta,” said Jeff Robertson, managing director of the SkyMiles program. “This is just one of many ways we’re celebrating our 25th Anniversary this year while continuing to improve both the customer experience and program value. Thanks to the loyalty of Delta customers and the dedication of our employees, Delta’s SkyMiles program is one of the most popular and longest-running airline loyalty programs.”
Beginning in March, all current U.S.-based Platinum Medallions may log on to delta.com/medallionmarketplace with their SkyMiles number and pin. Platinum Medallion members will be able to redeem their miles online, at any time, for a variety of unique household and travel-related items, which they can use for themselves or gift to others. The catalogue of more than 300 items includes:
• home and garden items
• outdoor equipment
• hotel stays
• gift cards
Delta SkyMiles members earn miles by flying Delta, Song®, Delta Shuttle®, the Delta Connection® carriers, Delta AirElite and Delta’s SkyTeam® partners. The SkyMiles program offers additional mileage-building opportunities through partners such as the Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express, SkyMilesShopping.com, participating hotels, car rental companies, telecommunication services, restaurants, floral and gift retailers and financial, mortgage and realty services. Now in its 25th year, the SkyMiles program was recently named the Best Frequent Flyer Program by Travel Savvy magazine in a survey that included all global and domestic loyalty programs. The airline plans to offer an array of exciting programs, promotions and benefits as Delta celebrates the silver anniversary of its frequent flyer program in 2006.
