The Great Delta Give-Back has kicked off this month, connecting Delta's over 80,000 employees to communities across the world through a projected 640,000 additional volunteer hours on top of the thousands of hours Delta people already give.
As part of this year's $1.3 billion profit sharing celebration, Delta redoubled its commitment to communities worldwide by investing additional employee volunteering in charitable organizations they care about. Starting this year, Delta employees will receive one day of pay when they volunteer with a 501(c)(3) or international nonprofit organization of their choice.
"Our employees are already giving their time and talents to serve their neighbors. We know that in moments of service, they are truly at their best. That's why we're going to pay them to spend more time giving back," CEO Ed Bastian said while announcing the program in February.
The Great Delta Give-Back comes on top of Delta's commitment to donate 1 percent of annual net income to charitable organizations supporting health, education, military, sustainability, diversity and more. In 2018, Delta's 1 percent commitment resulted in more than $50 million in community giving.
