Creative storytellers have the opportunity to show their skills at the second installment of Delta’s “My Next Trip Back” contest. Open to all U.S. residents at least 21 years of age who have a special connection to a Latin American country, the contest allows participants to submit their stories for a chance to take a unique and emotional dream trip back to Latin America to join either their parents or friends. Delta will film the two lucky winners’ journeys from beginning to end, capturing their unforgettable experience.
“When we launched My Next Trip Back in 2015, there was tremendous participation and we reached over 17.5 million people. It was exciting to see how many became so enthusiastic and wanted to surprise their family and friends with a visit back to their homeland,” said Mauricio Parise, Delta’s Director –
Worldwide Marketing Communications. “As a leading global airline, Delta goes beyond connecting destinations; we facilitate experiences and we are proud to bring our customers closer to their Hispanic heritages.”
Delta’s “My Next Trip Back” contest can be found on the websites www.miproximavisita.com or www.mynexttripback.com, designed to help people tell their stories in English or Spanish. The contest form includes places to insert photos, and prompts such as “In this trip I will...” and “This celebration deserves to come true because…” to turn their story into a short video.
“We can’t wait to see the stories that will be submitted,” said Parise. “Although creativity is important to win, the site is designed to be user-friendly and it inspires contestants by providing them sample stories to get their creative process going. Anyone with a dream has a chance to win.”
This year the contest will take place in two phases. During the first phase, participants have until May 8 to share the experience they would like to have on their next trip back to Latin America in the category of Parents, and until May 31 to participate in the Friends category. Delta will publish approved entries on a microsite, where they will be open for voting. Entrants may use the social media hashtag #mynexttripbackcontest to ask their friends and followers to vote for their entries. The three stories in each category with the most votes will automatically be entered into the finals, and a panel of judges will choose an additional seven finalists for a total of 10 finalists in each category. A winner will be chosen from each category.
During the second phase, the 10 finalists will be asked to create and upload a video to the microsite describing exactly why their story is unique and the emotional reasons they should be selected for this prize. Delta will take the two winners on an all-expense paid journey from beginning to end, from their departure in the U.S. to the moment they reach their final destination in Latin America. The two contest winners’ stories and film footages will be posted to the contest microsite and shared on social media.
My Next Trip Back is supported on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube and will engage influential celebrities and bloggers in Latin America like Alex Diaz, Gaby Moreno, Hector (Benshorts), David Lopez, Chicanol, and Growing Up Bilingual amongst others.
