NEW YORK, Dec 14th, 2012 -- Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) announced new and expanded service to 5 popular destinations in the Caribbean and Bermuda from John F. Kennedy International Airport and LaGuardia Airport, continuing its expansion as New York City’s largest and fastest-growing carrier.
"We're excited to be announcing new and expanded service from New York to these five popular leisure destinations in our region", said Nicolas Ferri, Delta's vice president – Latin America and Caribbean. "It's another step toward achieving our goal of becoming the best U.S. airline in Latin America, offering not only a unique experience for business travelers but also the best choice for leisure travel."
Delta introduced these additional flights as a response to an increased demand for more connections between New York and tourist destinations in the Caribbean. Delta also is optimizing its schedule at JFK to facilitate convenient connections to international flights. JFK is a major global gateway for Delta, with more than 136 peak-day departures to 82 worldwide destinations.
Delta is part of a $1.2 billion project to expand JFK’s Terminal 4 by one-third, creating a state-of-the-art international gateway. That facility will open in spring 2013. In addition to expansion at JFK, Delta is investing $160 million to modernize and connect Terminals C and D at LaGuardia airport with work on a connector bridge between the two expected to be completed by the end of 2012. Delta provides service to more destinations from New York-LaGuardia and New York-JFK combined than any other airline,
