LONDON, October 12, 2015 – Delta Air Lines [NYSE:DAL] is increasing the number of payment options available to international customers booking travel at delta.com to include online bank transfers made in real-time.  Now available in 10 European countries and Singapore, this popular payment method is offered beside existing gift, debit, and credit card options, giving customers more choices when purchasing air travel at delta.com.

Delta has partnered with Global Collect, Ingenico Group’s ePayments Division and a leader in local alternative payment solutions, to offer this payment choice. Delta is the first U.S. airline to offer online bank transfers as an option to customers in Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

“As a global airline we are focused on making Delta easier to do business with and this includes acknowledging that customers around the world have different preferences when it comes to paying online,” said Nat Pieper, Senior Vice President Europe, Middle East and Africa. “Offering online bank transfers provides greater choice and convenience, expanding payment options available to deliver a safe, secure and increasingly popular way to purchase travel on delta.com.”

“Consumers these days expect convenience and choice. Our analysis shows time and again that when consumers are given the option to pay with their preferred payment product, they are more likely to complete the purchase,” said David Jimenez, Chief Revenue Officer, GlobalCollect at Ingenico Group. “Online bank transfers account for as many as half of all online payments in certain European countries. By offering these solutions to customers, Delta will not only boost conversions, but boost the consumer experience on delta.com.”

After selecting the online banking option on the payment page of delta.com, customers are securely directed to the appropriate banking network for their market, such as SOFORT in the U.K. and iDEAL in the Netherlands.  Once the amount is confirmed, the customer is redirected back to delta.com for completion of the transaction and ticket issuance.  Customers wishing to purchase tickets using the online bank transfer option at delta.com must already have an account with a participating bank.
