A weather waiver has been proactively issued for customers traveling to, from or through the New York City metro area on Friday ahead of an expansive weather system forecasted to bring isolated thunderstorms across the Northeast region. Gusty winds, rain and decreased visibility may lead to a number of potential Air Traffic Control delays and ground stops at five New York airports.
The waiver allows customers with flexibility in their travel plans the ability to make a one-time change to their itinerary without incurring a fee.
Delta's team of meteorologists continue to monitor weather forecasts and share regularly updated forecasts with teams in the airline's Operations and Customer Center who will make informed decisions on any potential adjustments to flight paths and scheduled departures.
Customers are encouraged to check their flight status on Delta.com or the Fly Delta Mobile App. Customers can also get updates sent directly to their mobile device or by email with One-Time Flight Notification.
