Delta becomes an official Employer of National Service today, offering job opportunities to people who have completed a national service program, such as AmeriCorps or Peace Corps.
The Employer of National Service initiative offers employers increased access to national service alumni, a pool of dedicated and mission-oriented potential employees. The initiative promotes job opportunities of participating employers through online channels and career events that reach a large network of national service alumni.
In turn, Employers of National Service commit to considering national service alumni for employment, giving them an opportunity to apply their skills in the workplace. On Delta’s career opportunities page, alumni are able to identify themselves by selecting ‘Employer of National Service’ in regards to how they heard about the position.
“Delta Air Lines is proud to be an Employer of National Service,” said Joanne Smith, E.V.P. and Chief Human Resources Officer. “This win-win partnership provides Delta with highly-qualified alumni from venerable national service institutions who embody our Rules of the Road core values and join our airline ready for a challenge. We look forward to this growing relationship.”
President Obama launched Employers of National Service in 2014 to connect Peace Corps and AmeriCorps alumni with employers from the private, public and nonprofit sectors. Now, more than 350 employers across the U.S. participate in the program. National service develops essential skills, including servant leadership and innovative thinking, which are aligned with Delta’s core values.
