A day after launching one of the longest Live events in Facebook history, Delta is continuing its Big Thank You Thursday, which has already seen more than 30,000employees recognized for their daily efforts ahead of the busy summer travel season. The live broadcast can be seen at facebook.com/delta where over 50,000 more employee names will be read through Friday.
"The response from employees and friends of Delta has been really fun to see,” said Joanne Smith, Delta's Executive Vice President & Chief Human Resources Officer. “Delta has the best employees in the world who live the Delta difference and make us proud every day. Our people deserve this recognition for all they do and I’m proud of our Marketing team for bringing this ‘thank you’ to life.”
The unprecedented appreciation event was met with rave reviews by employees who quickly submitted comments to Facebook on Wednesday like:
- Eddie Qu: “Thank you Delta Air Lines!!! I’m very proud to be part of the family!!! 80,000 strong and growing!!! There’s no better company to work for!!! Congratulations to EVERYONE!!!”
- Christine Nowicki: “This proves that you are not just a number at DELTA- congrats employees”
- Lance Perryman: “Been watching since it started at 9am. Love it…Feels good to be recognized and appreciated!”
By 9 a.m. Thursday, the Big Thank You had garnered more than 213,000 views, 16,000 “reactions” and 2,100 “shares.” The Facebook community got in on the recognition effort, too, with some members commenting:
- Chris Finan: “Love this! About to get on a Delta flight back home to ATL!”
- Christie King: “So fun helping #Delta celebrate their fabulous employees!”
- Sevena Scott: “Love you Delta…both my parents worked and retired from Delta with over 30 years of service. #DeltaFamily”
In total, more than 430 celebrities, athletes and business leaders from Delta and its global partnerships in 20 cities around the world are sharing their thanks with Delta people by reading the individual names of each employee. Familiar faces like Jeff Foxworthy, Sean Astin, Anthony Anderson and the cast of Stranger Things were featured in the first 24 hours. Anyone can log in to watch who steps up to thank Delta employees next by visiting facebook.com/delta.
Employees can visit the Delta Big Thank You microsite to find out when their name will be announced.
Last year, Delta recognized employees by listing each person on a 50-foot tall greeting card which now holds the Guinness World Record for the largest thank you card. Today’s Facebook Live event comes on the heels of Delta being named one of the 2017 Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For, the only airline on the list as well as one of Fortune magazine’s Most Admired Companies.
