Delta has been named the official airline partner for historic soccer tournament Copa America Centenario, which will take place in 10 cities across the U.S. this June.

This year’s Copa America celebrates the tournament’s centennial anniversary in a series of 24 matches, featuring some of the world's best teams and players.  CA2016 will be the first Copa America tournament to be hosted outside of South America.

Flying these amazing athletes and the national teams they represent from the 15 Latin American countries we proudly serve is something Delta is uniquely capable of doing,” said Annika McKinney, Delta’s Director – International Marketing.  “We understand how passionate the people we fly are about the sports they love, and we look forward to being a big part of making this event happen – it’s truly a unique opportunity here in the U.S.”

Copa America Centenario will feature the top star players from North, South and Central America, as well as the Caribbean. Lionel Messi, Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez, David Luiz, James Rodriguez, Kaka, Michael Bradley, Clint Dempsey and many more are anticipated to take part in the tournament.

The tournament will begin on Friday, June 3, when the U.S. will play Colombia in Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. The rest of the matches will be held in various cities across the U.S.: Chicago; East Rutherford, N.J.; Foxborough, Mass.; Glendale, Ariz.; Houston; Orlando, Fla.; Pasadena, Calif; Philadelphia, Penn.; Seattle, Wash.; and Santa Clara, Calif.
