CINCINNATI, June 9, 2009 – Customers flying Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) from Cincinnati can now use Web-enabled mobile devices to check in and receive an electronic boarding pass, thanks to a partnership between the airline and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
The option is available for domestic travel on nonstop Delta, Northwest and Delta Connection flights departing from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG).
“Delta’s time-saving technology puts customers in control of their experience and provides them with valuable convenience,” said Paul Baird, Delta’s field director for Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. “Passengers can now quickly check in and receive a boarding pass for their Delta, Northwest or Delta Connection flight while en route to the airport, in a taxi or walking from the parking lot to the terminal. The check-in process now can take place from anywhere, any time within 24 hours of flight departure.”
How it works:
- Customers traveling in the United States and checking in for a nonstop flight from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport may simply download their boarding pass to their mobile devices via delta.com or nwa.com and proceed directly to the airport security screening area.
- Customers checking bags should drop their bags at the baggage drop counter location prior to proceeding to the security checkpoint.
- At the security checkpoint, TSA will scan the electronic boarding pass, check the customer’s ID and process the customer through security.
- Customers can then proceed to their departure gate, present their electronic boarding pass to the gate agent at boarding time and board with their designated zone.
Delta also recently announced paperless check-in service at Salt Lake City. Other airports currently offering mobile check-in to Delta and Northwest customers include: Atlanta, Las Vegas, Memphis and Minneapolis-St. Paul; Detroit and Indianapolis (Northwest only); and New York-LaGuardia (Delta only).
