ATLANTA, Jan. 11, 2007 – Delta Air Lines is once again proudly supporting independent film, returning as the Official Airline of the Sundance Film Festival. The airline will welcome filmmakers, VIPs and Festival attendees to the Delta Sky Lodge, Jan. 18-27, in Park City, Utah. Throughout the 2007 Festival, the Delta Sky Lodge will serve as host to exclusive premiere parties and events. It will also feature the WireImage Portrait Studio, where filmmakers, casts and industry executives will have their official Festival portraits taken.

A two-level retreat in the McCarthey Gallery space at 449 Main Street, the Delta Sky Lodge will feature plush leather furniture, wooden banquets, a fireplace, plasma television screens and a DJ, creating a hip lounge feel wrapped in the ambiance and texture of a warm, rustic lodge. The Delta Sky Lodge will also offer two sets of comfy, all-leather Delta airline seats, including international BusinessElite seats and domestic First Class seats, showcasing Delta’s state-of-the-art digital entertainment system. The seats will broadcast movies (including past Sundance films!), music and video games. Delta Sky Lodge guests will enjoy a fully-stocked bar, including selections from Delta’s signature cocktail program – “Cocktails By Rande Gerber for Delta” – scheduled to debut on-board this spring, while Delta flight attendants and a unique concierge service attend to their every need. Guests will also receive gift bags compliments of Delta’s amenity partner, LATHER, a personal care company known for creating all-natural body, skincare and aromatherapy products.

On Jan. 18 and 27, only, the Delta Sky Lodge will be open to the public, providing Festival attendees with a reprieve from Park City’s bustling Main Street. On the remaining dates, during the daytime, the Delta Sky Lodge will host filmmakers and casts who are visiting the WireImage Portrait Studio for their official Festival portraits. In the evenings, the Delta Sky Lodge will host private, invitation-only events, including premiere parties, musical performances and benefits, with expected attendance from Sienna Miller, John Cusack, David Arquette, Peter Saarsgard, Keri Russell, Bradley Whitford, Jane Kaczmarek, James Franco, Cheryl Hines, Jeremy Sisto, Steve Buscemi, Blair Underwood, Tyler Hilton and more.

As an off-shoot of its Sundance sponsorship, Delta Air Lines is supporting emerging filmmakers by highlighting five original short films on and its state-of-the-art, in-flight entertainment system through a national competition dubbed “Delta’s Fly-In Movies” where the traveling public can view and vote on their favorite films. Through the contest, which is managed by Gen Art – one of the leading arts and entertainment organizations dedicated to showcasing the best emerging talent in film, fashion, visual arts and music – one filmmaker will be awarded cash, travel and a trip to the 2007 Sundance Film Festival, where Delta will announce the film at a party in the Delta Sky Lodge on Jan. 24. Actor Bobby Canavalle, whose films have premiered at four of the last five Sundance Film Festivals, will host this “Delta Fly-In Movie Celebration.”

The five final films – Dustin Lynn’s “Tranquil Music,” Phil Van’s “High Maintenance,” Troy Morgan’s “Dragon,” Lisa M. Perry’s “The Test,” and Jon Knautz's “Still Life” – are featured online at and on Delta’s transcontinental flights, through the airline’s industry-leading in-flight entertainment system, through Jan. 31. The winning filmmaker will be selected based upon collective voting.
