LIBERIA, Costa Rica, June 2, 2014 – Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) celebrated last Saturday, May 31st, the second edition of the recreational race "Delta Pacific Run" in Playa Hermosa, Guanacaste. The event’s main objective was to raise funds to be donated to a small elementary school located at Playa Hermosa, for the building of a new classroom and other needed improvements in its infrastructure.

“More than 600 runners joined us this year in the 5K and 10K races, showing the commitment of travel and tourism sector with the community of Guanacaste”, said Jose Antonio Torres, Delta´s general manager for Central America. “We believe the race is a way to strengthen our ties with local organizations. Our social commitment goes beyond the donating of funds collected, we were also partnering with Hogares Crea organization and other sports and communal groups to provide an opportunity for locals to work as support staff during the race.”

Delta awarded the winners on both the female and male categories of 5K and 10K events; the first place won one of 3 Delta round trip tickets to the United States. The winners of 10K race received as well the fee enrollment for one US Marathon. All runners who finished the race participated in a raffle of three round trips to any Delta´s destination in continental US.

The event had the support of Mangroove Hotel, Westin Resort and Spa Playa Conchal, Hilton Papagayo, Radio Columbia, Zoom Radio and the Development Association of Playa Hermosa.
