NEW YORK, Oct. 2, 2006 – Already an All-Star and considered one of the top young players in the league, The New York Mets third baseman David Wright is quickly rising to the top of his field.
Now, Delta Air Lines, The Official Airline of the New York Mets, will take Wright to new heights - naming one if its aircraft “The Wright Flight”. Wright will join Delta at a dedication ceremony at LaGuardia Airport’s Marine Air Terminal on Monday, Oct. 2, the day before the National League Eastern Division
Championship Mets begin the 2006 playoffs. “The Wright Flight” moniker, including Wright’s name, number and signature, will be affixed adjacent to the boarding door of the aircraft for tens of thousands of Delta customers and sports fans to view it as they board the plane.
Delta is dubbing the plane “The Wright Flight” to celebrate The Mets’ phenomenal season, Wright’s success and to further demonstrate the airline’s commitment to one of its most important hubs, New York City.
"Delta is as excited about the success of The New York Mets as fans throughout the city,” said Tim Mapes, managing director of marketing for Delta. ”As the Official Airline of The Mets, this is our way of congratulating the team by dedicating one of our aircraft to its all-star third baseman, David Wright. We wish the Mets the best of luck in the 2006 playoffs."
