Delta’s global brand continues to climb with the welcome of former WarnerMedia exec Molly Battin as Vice President of Marketing, effective Nov. 11, and former Nike design head Byron Merritt as Vice President of Brand Experience Design, effective Dec. 9.  

Battin oversees Delta’s world-class, global marketing communications and creative services teams, while Merritt, in a new role for Delta, leads the design and development of product experiences and a brand identity system that will further differentiate Delta as a trusted consumer brand. Both Battin and Merritt serve as members of the Brand Communications senior leadership team, reporting to Tim Mapes, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing and Communications Officer.

“Delta’s brand is brought to life in the many ways we connect with our people, customers, investors and communities – how we make them feel, the way we show up in and for the world, as well as the way we look and sound,” said Mapes. “The journey we are on to become a trusted consumer brand requires proven expertise, and I’m excited to have both Byron and Molly, who will help our efforts to continue to strengthen the world’s perceptions of Delta’s brand.”

Battin joins Delta from entertainment conglomerate WarnerMedia where she served as Chief Corporate Marketing and Brand Strategy Officer, leading their global corporate marketing team and recently launching a new brand communication and brand identity centered on creating meaningful human connections through the power of storytelling. Previously, she oversaw all corporate and brand communication at Turner, across 100 brands in 200+ countries – including programs promoting CNN, TNT, TCM and Turner Sports.

During his more than 13 years at universal sports icon Nike, Merritt served as Vice President of Retail Innovation, leading award-winning design experiences across consumer interactions – from digital products and events to retail concepts that bring digital and physical experiences together – and establishing himself as a global thought leader on design and innovation. Prior to joining Nike, Merritt was a member of the leadership team at the design and innovation firm IDEO.

Along with Battin and Merritt, Delta’s award-winning Brand Communication team consists of brand experience design, community engagement, corporate communications, and marketing, working together to secure Delta’s place among the world’s greatest consumer brands.
