Delta’s domestic food offerings were lauded by The Diet Detective in its annual Airline Food Investigation with Health Ratings as the airline took the top spot among large network carriers and tied for second among all U.S.-based airlines with a score of four stars out of five.

Nutritionist Charles Platkin, better known as The Diet Detective, highlighted Delta’s partnership with Luvo saying their “strong commitment to healthy eating” means customers have options for wholesome, tasteful food when flying, including the Luvo Grilled Chicken Wrap and Roast Turkey and Havarti Wrap.

He also called out several items in the EATS Tapas box as healthy alternative and said peanuts are still a healthful mainstay, especially on short flights.

Delta has in the last couple years endeavored to up the ante with offering more healthful food items on board. It recently partnered with Nourish Snacks to provision the First Class snack basket with more nutritious alternatives. The airline’s relationship with Luvo will soon drive a complete revamp of the Luvo product offering, coming in early 2016.

Platkin is a nationally syndicated nutrition and public health advocate and Distinguished Lecturer at the CUNY School of Public Health in New York City.
