Don Mitacek is the S.V.P. of Delta TechOps and the President of the Delta Technical Services Group. He is currently responsible for over 11,000 employees in 14 countries who perform engineering and maintenance on 940 commercial aircraft. The group is accountable for all maintenance material spend, materials allocations, fleet safety and reliability, customer net promotor scores, employee health and safety, and all regulatory requirements.

Under Don’s leadership, Delta Air Lines enjoys the lowest maintenance cost per available seat mile (CASM), which is 29% better than the industry average cost. Delta also ranks the best in the industry as measured by maintenance cancellations and on-time performance. Over the past decade, personal safety improved year over year from 2.97 GIR (Global Injury Rate) to 0.99 annually by implementing a three-tier approach: engineering design, human science and culture.

In October 2020, Delta Air Lines announced the alignment of Delta TechOps MRO, Delta Material Services and Delta Flight Products as a result of synergies realized across the teams and to support the growing customer base. In order to further define the combination of these teams and have a united front to the industry, the Delta TechOps Services Group (DTSG) was established. As a result of this creation, Don now serves as President, Delta TechOps Services Group (DTSG), in addition to his current role as S.V.P. - Delta Technical Operations.

An intrinsic leader and mentor, Don sits on the Board of Directors, Safety & Security Committee for Delta Air Lines and is the Chairman of the Board for TechOps MX. TechOps MX is a joint venture between Delta Air Lines and Aeromexico to provide airplane heavy maintenance service. Effective October 2020, he joined the board of Monroe Energy.

Don earned his bachelor’s degree in 1986 in aviation maintenance management at Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois. Don attended Saint Mary’s College, where he earned his MBA with honors in 1994.
