The Georgia Historical Society has recognized Delta CEO Ed Bastian for his commitment to leadership and service by naming him as a 2018 Georgia Trustee.

Each year, the society chooses two people who best represent the trustee motto, "Not for Self, but for Others." Ed and Paul Bowers, CEO of Georgia Power, will join previous  trustees including late Chick-fil-A founder Truett Cathy, University of Georgia icon Vince Dooley and media mogul Ted Turner.

In an announcement Thursday, the Historical Society said Ed's dedication to customers and employees, along with his engagement in local philanthropic efforts and focus on the fight against human trafficking displayed a true spirit of service.

Gov. Nathan Deal will officially induct Ed and Bowers Feb. 17, at the Georgia Historical Society's Trustees Gala.
