Delta’s employees are supporting relief efforts for the victims of the earthquake that struck northern Ecuador on April 16, leaving over 480 people dead and 4,000 injured. The earthquake was Ecuador’s worst natural disaster in 60 years.
“At the heart of Delta’s core values is servant leadership. It is part of our DNA and drives us to unite and support the
communities we serve,” said Nicolas Ferri, Delta’s Vice President—Latin America and the Caribbean. “Cargo colleagues are working with the U.S. Ecuadorian consulates to provide relief, and employees can contribute through Delta’s American Red Cross microsite as well as through the Latin American Hispanic Employee Network.”Donations will go toward immediate relief needs, including food, water, shelter, clean up and the health of those affected.
“It is heartwarming to see the outpour of support from colleagues from across the Delta system including Delta’s Latin American Ambassadors, Airport Customer Service, Reservations, Delta TechOps and the Latin American Business Unit to provide support to our Ecuadorian brothers and sisters,” said Andres Barron, LAHEN’s president. “The best way for us to contribute is through our partnership with the American Red Cross.”
