Normal baggage operations at Terminal 2 at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport resumed Monday afternoon, following the an active shooter incident that occurred Friday. It is one of the final major steps toward operational normalcy and follows a resumption of a full flight schedule at the airport on Sunday.

Customer checked baggage was temporarily being sent to Terminal 3’s baggage claim while the Terminal 2 claim was closed for law enforcement’s crime scene investigation of the space.

“The FLL team has been absolutely outstanding through all of this,” said Stephanie Baldwin, Director - Airport Customer Service, Southeast. “What they’ve been able to pull together to resume normal service for our customers and the community has been remarkable.”

Cargo shipments to and from Fort Lauderdale have also resumed.

Those customers who left checked or carry-on bags on a Delta aircraft during the evacuation on Friday should contact Delta's baggage number, 888-977-1005.

Customers evacuated from the FLL airport who left behind other belongings in the terminal should follow @FLLFlyer on Twitter for updates on when and where to pick up items. About 20,000 items have been gathered by the airport, which is sorting them for distribution to their owners.
