At Delta, the best gift is giving back.
The holidays are a season of joy, celebration and generosity. As we cross off our gift lists for friends and family, Delta people come together to give the gift of time, resources and service to the communities that connect us.
Spreading warmth with Atlanta Public Schools
Delta employees helped provide the gift of warmth to students at Dobbs and Hutchinson Elementary Schools before Thanksgiving. Just in time for the colder weather, employees gave generously to the APS Coat Drive for the second year in a row. During October and November, Delta employees donated 645 coats to Atlanta schoolchildren.
Holiday in the Hangars and North Pole Flights
Delta's Holiday in the Hangar and North Pole Fantasy Flights give the happiness of the holidays back to children who are sick or in need of a celebration through the help of Delta "elves."
Delta people spend months of their own time coordinating North Pole Flights and Holidays in the Hangar, transforming hangars and airport gate areas into magical places. In many cities, Delta partners with hospitals or charitable organizations to "fly" children on aircraft "sleighs" to the North Pole, where they experience snowball fights, caroling and even a chance to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus.
Delta Holidays in the Hangar and North Pole Flights have been in full swing throughout December, taking place in Atlanta, Detroit, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Salt Lake City and Seattle, with more cities joining the list.
Toys for Tots
Delta will give $700,000 to help less fortunate children this holiday season, giving $100,000 to provide books for literacy programs and $600,000 for toys and bikes. Last week, Delta TechOps employees donated and assembled over 1,000 bikes and more than 15,000 toys to make the holidays brighter for Atlanta families.
Delta Golf Open and Care Fund
TechOps employees and leaders raised $20,000 to benefit the Delta Care Fund at the 62nd Delta Golf Open. The event started in Griffin, Ga., 62 years ago and today is the largest corporate golf tournament in the world. For the past six years, the Delta Golf Open has donated a portion of the proceeds to the Delta Care Fund, in addition to other charities such as St Jude Children's Research Hospital, Shriner Hospital for Children, Boston Children's Hospital, The First Tee of Atlanta and K9s For Warriors.
The Delta Care & Scholarship Funds is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization led by Delta people to benefit Delta families. The Care Fund provides assistance to eligible Delta employees, retirees and their survivors who suffer a severe financial hardship from an unforeseen and unavoidable crisis, including a disaster or catastrophic event.
United Way
Last week, Delta employees, friends and families partnered with United Way to support human trafficking survivors through a Holiday Care Package Project.
Delta people around the system have supported United Way through bake sales, jewelry sales, Pack the Plane school supply drive, online auctions and more.
