Delta brought together two of its community partners in Los Angeles on Monday for a special dedication ceremony inspiring the youth of Covenant House California to “Never Stop Dreaming.”
As part of Delta’s “Beyond the Court” program during the 2016-2017 season, Los Angeles Lakers Forward and aspiring artist Brandon Ingram, acclaimed street artist Jonas Never and 150 Lakers fans created a one-of-a-kind 8’x22’ mural. The piece of art was initially displayed alongside the iconic Venice Boardwalk for all Angelenos to walk by and see.On Monday, Delta, Ingram and Never came together to donate the mural to Covenant House California, a local youth shelter that provides sanctuary and support for homeless and underprivileged kids. The inspirational mural was put on display next to a renovated basketball court and youth lounge space, which Delta and the Lakers unveiled during the ceremony on Monday. Delta is a long-time supporter of Covenant House California and the Official Airline of the Lakers.
Delta representative Melissa Abbott, Lakers Youth Foundation Executive Director Kiesha Nix and Covenant House California CEO & President Bill Bedrossian joined Ingram and Never for the dedication at Covenant House California’s Los Angeles location. After the ribbon cutting, Ingram took to the court and played basketball with several young men and women affiliated with Covenant House California.
“Delta is an active member of the communities we serve, and we were thrilled to bring together two of our great Los Angeles partners in a way that supports the youth of Covenant House California, said Melissa Abbott, Delta’s Manager – Sales Partnerships, L.A., and Board member of Covenant House California. “’Beyond the Court’ inspired Brandon to pursue his off-the-court passion of art, and we hope this mural will continue to inspire the youth of Covenant House to pursue their dreams for years to come.”
Throughout the 2016-17 season, Delta’s “Beyond the Court” program celebrated the passion of Lakers players on and off the court, giving them an opportunity to connect with and learn from a mentor and fans in a deeper way. Delta’s program brought together L.A.’s dream chasers who shared a common interest – such as Ingram and Never – to show how Delta can help all Angelenos in their pursuit of passions and opportunity as part of Delta’s Dream Up, L.A. campaign.
