Mahendra Nair is the Senior Vice President, Delta TechOps at Delta Air Lines. He oversees Line and Base Maintenance, Engineering, Quality & Safety, TechOps Inventory, Logistics & Demand Planning, Cabin Operations, Engine & Components MRO, TechOps Supply Chain, In-flight Entertainment & connectivity and DTSG (Delta TechOps Services Group) including 3rd party MRO and Delta Flight Products.
Prior to this, Mahendra was Senior Vice President - Fleet & TechOps Supply Chain. He was at the helm of one of Delta’s largest pandemic accomplishments – accelerating Delta’s fleet strategy to retire older, inefficient aircraft while deferring aircraft orders and strategically placing new aircraft orders to ensure we are well positioned for the future.
Before joining Delta, Mahendra was General Manager, GEnx Product Line leading the lifecycle product management of the GEnx engine. Prior to that, he was Vice President, Americas Sales for GE Aviation. In this role, he was responsible for Commercial Engines & Engine Services solutions for GE & CFM products in the Americas.
Additionally, he was General Manager of Customized Services Agreements at GE Aviation Services and managed the growth of the long-term services contract’s portfolio for six years. He received the GE Chairman’s Leadership Award in 2015 for his work in driving digital tools & analytics in the management of the contracts portfolio.
Mahendra joined GE in 2000 and grew through multiple commercial and marketing roles. In 2008, he was promoted to Director, Business Operations leading commercial programs and driving growth for the GE90 product line and partnering with Boeing, revenue share partners and airline customers. His prior GE roles included developing the Regional Marketing function and serving as the Americas Regional Marketing Director supporting sales growth in North & South America, as well as developing business strategy and growth plans for the Commercial Engines business as Marketing Strategy Manager.
As a certified Master Black Belt, Mahendra was responsible for establishing the Six Sigma infrastructure, training and certification processes for Aviation’s software operations in India. He started his GE career in the Corporate Business Development function where he worked to grow GE’s presence in the region.
Prior to GE, he held Sales Manager positions in India with consumer goods companies, including Cadbury and Godrej group JVs with P&G and Sara Lee Corporation where he managed teams with Sales & Marketing responsibilities.
He holds an MBA in Marketing and a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Mumbai, India.
