Delta continues its longtime support of the LGBT community this June through a series of national Pride festival partnerships, while extending perks for traveling attendees: a special First Class fare offer.
An annual supporter of Pride, Delta is the official airline and sponsor of seven festivals throughout North America during Pride Month, including: Utah Pride Festival in Salt Lake City; Motor City Pride in Detroit; LA Pride; NYC Pride; Seattle PrideFest; Twin Cities Pride in Minneapolis; and The 519’s Green Space Festival at Toronto Pride. Delta people, their families and friends, and other volunteers will serve as the airline’s on-the-ground supporters as part of Delta’s Employee Equality Network across the major cities.
“Delta has been a big presence at Pride events for several years. It’s one of the many ways we support the communities where we live and work, as well as our Delta employees," said Tad Hutcheson, V.P.–Community Affairs. "We believe that a huge part of our success is our culture of inclusion - it's a core value for Delta. Our diverse people, thinking and styles strengthen and define us.”
Delta Pride comes in a number of different forms this year: Festival attendees traveling from many domestic airports to one of the six U.S.festival destinations are eligible for discounted First Class fares for two days before through two days after Pride festival event weekends.
The fare offer builds on Delta’s longstanding LGBT community involvement, an effort overseen by Community Affairs. As Pride Month approached, Delta’s Marketing Communications Strategy and Revenue Management teams examined this travel segment, known for frequent travel and high economic impact, and developed the offer to raise awareness of Delta’s commitment. The effort brings Delta to the forefront with the LGBT community as the only airline extending a discount to attendees on peak Pride weekend travel days.
Internally, Delta was recognized by the Human Rights Campaign as one of the “Best Places to Work” for LGBT employees in 2010 and 2011 and continues to earn near-perfect scores on HRC’s Corporate Equality Index. Delta also sponsors the Delta Equality Employee Network, serving as a champion for Delta’s LGBT employees and allies.
Delta is the Official Airline of Atlanta Pride, the presenting sponsor of the GLAAD Media Awards and a Platinum Sponsor of the International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association. Additionally, Delta also supports LGBT efforts as a sponsor of GNETWORK 360 in Argentina, the Brazilian Association for Gay Tourism and the Attitude Pride Awards in London.
