Delta Connection partner SkyWest Airlines Wednesday announced its order for 19 76-seat Embraer E175 regional jets. Deliveries for the aircraft will begin in 2016 and will join Delta’s fleet of 52 E175s already in service and operated by Compass Airlines and Shuttle America.
The jets will be flown in a dual-class configuration with 12 seats in First Class, 16 seats in Delta Comfort+ and 48 seats in the main cabin. Like Delta’s other dual-class regional jets, the new E175s will be equipped with Wi-Fi. The new aircraft will feature a new wingtip, improving aerodynamic performance and fuel consumption over the first-generation E175s.
Delta continues to swap older, less efficient 50-seat regional jets fora mix of larger regional jets, like the E175, and mainline aircraft, including Boeing 717-200s. With these E175s and other committed deliveries, Delta Connection partners will operate 450 aircraft, including 223 76-seat aircraft, 102 70-seat aircraft, and 125 50-seat aircraft.
