Delta showcased its commitment to the Hispanic community this past weekend by sponsoring “Copa Alianza,” the largest soccer tournament and youth talent search in the U.S.

“Copa Alianza” is run by the Alianza de Futbol, the leading national organization dedicated to the support and development of amateur Hispanic soccer talent in the country. The tournament gives more than 30,000 players a chance to showcase their skills for the hopes of winning more than $100,000 in prizes.

During its stop in Los Angeles, Delta hosted a booth at the playing site to highlight its service throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as hand out Delta-branded miniature soccer balls to children.

“Supporting this kind of initiative is part of Delta’s DNA,” said Hector Ruiz, Delta’s Regional Sales Manager—U.S. and Latin America. “Our values drive us to grow closer to our clients in U.S. Hispanic communities and support the development of young talent in education, culture and sports.”

Delta is a 2015 sponsor of the Alianza de Futbol, which has been empowering Hispanic communities, families and soccer players since 2004. The organization provides members with access to prestigious soccer programs with the goal of helping players reach their full soccer potential and succeed in education, life and work.

The tournament has held matches in Phoenix, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, New York, Denver and Chicago, with upcoming games in San Francisco; El Paso, Texas; and Miami.

“Supporting this kind of initiative is part of Delta’s DNA,” said Hector Ruiz, Delta’s Regional Sales Manager — U.S. and Latin America.
