As customers take to the skies for a little fun in the sun, Delta will be dishing out seasonally-inspired summer offerings on board beginning June 1.

The refreshes are a part of Delta’s industry-leading culinary strategy to offer fresh, local and seasonal food and beverage options to enhance the on-board experience for its customers.

Summer menu and wine selections in Delta One

Delta One customers on transoceanic flights will enjoy fresh, summer flavors – think tomatoes, sweet corn and citrus – woven into dishes onboard June through August.  The summer menu is the third installment in Delta’s seasonal menu program that launched late last year as part of the airline’s continued effort to elevate and redefine the on-board culinary experience.

Depending on the destination, menus will feature culinary creations by Delta’s in-house and partner chefs including Linton Hopkins, Michelle Bernstein and John Karangis of Union Square Events – the latest partner featured as part of Delta’s deepening collaboration with Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group.  Previous seasonal menus with the hospitality company included beloved New York restaurants Marta and Union Square Cafe.

The seasonal menus also feature ingredients that are sourced locally from farmers and artisan producers, ensuring freshness and quality while also supporting businesses in the local communities that Delta serves.

Master Sommelier Andrea Robinson has prepared a head-turning selection of wines that celebrate travel and evoke the locales of summer, one glass at a time. White wines are crisp, refreshing and lively to complement fresh summer flavors, like sweet corn, grape tomatoes and other fresh-from-the-garden finds. Her red wine selections are exciting, savory and bursting with acidity to match the fresh tomato, basil and herbs that anchor summer dishes. Customers can also indulge in a selection of dessert wine, port or champagne, all hand-picked by Robinson. A full list of the 2016 summer wine selections can be found here.

Strawberry Honeysuckle Gelato offered to First Class customers

Customers traveling in First Class on all long-haul North America flights out of Atlanta will experience strawberry gelato from one of Atlanta’s favorite shops, Honeysuckle Gelato. Partnering with this local company allows the airline to offer a locally-sourced sweet treat at 35,000 feet.

Delta began serving Honeysuckle Gelato on board in the summer of 2015, and continuously offers seasonal refreshes for customers.

Southern Lemonade signature cocktail served all summer long

Summer wouldn’t be complete without seasonal libations. Delta’s popular Southern Lemonade signature cocktail, featuring Minute Maid Lemonade and Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka, is back on board for summer beginning June 1, and will be offered on all flights within North America.
