Delta has been honored with two additional 2016 World Travel Awards: North America’s Leading Airline and United States’ Leading Airline to the Caribbean. Earlier this summer, Delta won three World Travel Awards at the WTA Latin America Gala Ceremony in Lima, Peru: United States’ Leading Airline to Central America; United States’ Leading Airline to South America; and United States’ Leading Airline to Mexico. It is the second consecutive year Delta has been honored with five World Travel Awards.
“I would like to thank the thousands of Delta customers who showed their loyalty by taking the time to vote for Delta and honor us with this year’s five recognitions,” said Nicolas Ferri, Delta’s Vice President - Latin America and the Caribbean. “I would also like to thank our 80,000 employees, without whose industry-leading work we could not have the customers’ preference.”
The Caribbean and North American recognitions were announced at the 23rd Annual WTA Gala Ceremony, held this past weekend in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. The WTAs were established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the global tourism industry. Today, the WTA brand is recognized as a hallmark of quality, with its winners setting the global benchmark.
“It was a pleasure for us to recognize the achievements of Delta Air Lines last Friday in Jamaica. The carrier provides an invaluable link between North America and the Caribbean, and this has been recognized by our voters,” said World Travel Awards President Graham Cooke. “I offer my sincere congratulations to everybody at this industry-leading airline and wish them every success for 2016.”
