Danny Meyer, a New York City restaurateur and CEO of the Union Square Hospitality Group, topped Nation’s Restaurant News’ The Power List 2016 as the No. 1 most powerful person in food service.

Delta and Meyer’s USHG partnership dates back to 2013. In August 2013, Delta announced Blue Smoke restaurant would begin creating BusinessElite Express Meals for daily flights, as well as signature cocktails, between New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport and London-Heathrow. On the ground, the partnership continued to expand as Delta collaborated with USHG to design its Delta Sky 360 Club at Citi Field, and Shake Shack and Blue Smoke on the Road opened their first U.S. airport locations at Delta's JFK Terminal 4 in May 2013.

The partnership has continued to evolve throughout the years with an emphasis on elevating the dining and inflight experience for Delta customers. As of Dec. 1, 2015, customers flying in the Delta One cabin on all transoceanic flights across Delta’s global network now enjoy seasonally rotating, regionally-influenced menus featuring ingredients sourced at the height of flavor, often from artisan, small-batch producers with Meyer’s USHG taking center stage.

As part of Delta’s move to offer more chef-created menus in flight, the airline furthered its partnership with Meyer’s USHG and began featuring menus artfully developed by Nick Anderer, Executive Chef and Partner of New York restaurant Marta and Maialino, on select trans-Atlantic routes departing from JFK from December 2015 through February 2016.

The Marta collaboration marks the next step in a broader evolution in Delta’s culinary partnership with USHG. In 2016, Delta will continue to feature new menus inspired by USHG’s other restaurants on a rotating basis and introduce customers to fresh and innovative dining options on select trans-Atlantic flights out of New York.

Meyer is the Founder of Shake Shack and Union Square Hospitality Group, which includes some of New York City's most beloved restaurants including Union Square Cafe, Gramercy Tavern, Blue Smoke & Jazz Standard, The Modern, Cafe 2 and Terrace 5 (located at the Museum of Modern Art), Maialino, Untitled at the Whitney Museum of American Art, North End Grill, as well as Union Square Events, the company's catering, sports, and events business, and Hospitality Quotient, a learning business empowering companies to transform their business through the power of hospitality.
