Delta employees and reporters made up a special group of 48 people who made aviation history Wednesday as Ship 6314 took to the skies one last time to its retirement home at Pinal Air Park in Marana, Ariz. It was the final flight of a 747 operated by a U.S. carrier.

A Delta pilot and flight attendant tied the knot on the flight, having met on the 747 nine years ago.

Last fall, Delta began flying its new flagship A350 with next-generation engine technology with solid efficiency and range. It features the award-winning Delta One suite and Delta Premium Select experience.
