BARCELONA, Oct. 14, 2013 – Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) is introducing its new full flat-bed BusinessElite seats on flights between Barcelona El Prat Airport and New York, JFK, becoming the only U.S. carrier to offer a full flat-bed on the route. By mid-2014, Delta will be the only U.S. carrier to offer full flat-bed seating with direct-aisle access on its entire international widebody fleet.
Delta will offer 260 full flat-bed seats each week when the new BusinessElite seats become available from 1 Nov. 2013, operating five-times weekly between Barcelona and New York with a Boeing 767-300 during winter.
“Delta’s frequent business travelers tell us that the comfort of flat bed seats with direct aisle access is a must-have on flights to and from the U.S.,” said Perry Cantarutti, Delta’s senior vice president Europe, Middle East and Africa. “The design of Delta’s new BusinessElite seats optimizes each passenger’s space, giving them privacy to work or relax in order to arrive at their destination ready for a day’s business.”
Customers flying in BusinessElite on Delta flights between Barcelona and the U.S. will enjoy forward-facing seats that convert to a 180-degree fully flat-bed and offer direct aisle access in a 1x2x1 configuration. All feature a 10.6” individual screen and a broad range of on demand entertainment in addition to 110v AC power source and USB port.
Delta is also transforming the sleep experience for business class customers in the air by offering Westin Heavenly® In-Flight bedding, designed and manufactured exclusively for Delta by Westin Hotels & Resorts, in BusinessElite. In addition to the new Westin Heavenly In-Flight bedding, BusinessElite passengers will receive Delta’s new amenity kit featuring Tumi and Malin+Goetz products such as Neroli Hand & Body Lotion and Lip Moisturizer, a Tumi eye mask, socks, shoe horn, shoe polish, comb, dental kit, tissues, antibacterial wipes, earplugs and a pen. The products will be contained in a Tumi case made from the brand's exclusive, virtually abrasion-proof ballistic nylon fabric.
Passengers flying into New York-JFK will benefit from Delta’s new JFK Terminal 4, part of a $1.4 billion project to create a state-of-the-art international gateway. One of the largest terminals in North America, Terminal 4 offers travelers a spacious environment with a wide variety of shopping and dining options. BusinessElite customers can enjoy the new Sky Deck at the Delta Sky Club in Terminal 4 which offers customers the opportunity to experience an outdoor airport terrace with unprecedented runway views without leaving the comfort of the Club.
“There are strong business ties between Barcelona and New York and we continue to see a growing demand for premium travel on the trans-Atlantic,” said Rafael Ruiz, Delta’s commercial manager for Spain. “These product improvements will further enhance the overall customer experience for business travelers across Delta’s core business markets including Barcelona.”
Additionally, customers flying in Economy Comfort, Delta’s premium economy service, benefit from up to four additional inches of legroom and 50 percent more recline than Delta’s standard international Economy class seats. Customers seated in Economy Comfort also board early and enjoy complimentary spirits throughout the flight.
