David Thompson, S.V.P. – Delta TechOps
David Thompson, Senior Vice President of Delta TechOps, is a 27-year Delta TechOps veteran with a passion for driving operational excellence and building upon Delta’s unique culture. He started as a Mechanic’s Helper and has held numerous positions in operations and engineering with increasing responsibility throughout the years.
As Senior Vice President of Delta TechOps, David oversees Line and Base Maintenance, Engineering, Quality & Safety, TechOps Inventory, Logistics & Demand Planning, Cabin Operations, Engine & Component Maintenance, TechOps Supply Chain, In-flight Entertainment & connectivity and Delta Flight Products.
Prior to his role as SVP of TechOps, David was Vice President of Engineering, Quality and Safety. His team was responsible for the overall management of Delta’s fleet of mainline aircraft. His areas of responsibility have included Engineering, Technical Services, Reliability, Maintenance Programs, Quality Assurance & Control as well as Safety. He also oversaw support for Technical Operations Maintenance Planning & Fleet Projects, Inventory Systems & Strategic Planning, Distribution, Tooling & Logistics, and Technology & Innovation Engineering. Previously, he served as Managing Director of Line Maintenance and Maintenance Control, overseeing the domestic Line Maintenance team of more than 3,500 employees, delivering industry-leading operational performance.
He holds an A&P license and bachelor’s degree in Aeronautics from Embry Riddle Aeronautics University.
