Delta ranks as No. 1 corporate blood drive sponsor with the American Red Cross for the seventh year
Delta people and the community donated a record 15,585 units of blood in fiscal year 2024 (year-end June 30), making Delta the No. 1 corporate blood drive sponsor with American Red Cross for the seventh year.
Delta people’s steadfast commitment to life-giving blood drives made the airline the No. 1 corporate blood drive sponsor of the American Red Cross for the seventh consecutive year, with employees, retirees and customers contributing a record 15,585 units of blood in fiscal year 2024 (FYE 6/30).
Giving blood is essential, and the need remains high as the blood supply is often at its lowest during the summer months. Throughout the year, Delta has continued to expand its blood drive program with the addition of community blood drives and partnering with our sponsorship team for joint drives with Atlanta, Minneapolis, Salt Lake City and Seattle sports teams that Delta sponsors. Delta also joined forces with historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) in partnership with the Red Cross and sponsored blood drives at 125 blood drives at 37 HBCUs across the country.
“Many hospital patients require significant and sustained support that can only come from the generosity of volunteer blood donors,” said Chris Hrouda, President - American Red Cross Biomedical Services. “We are grateful for the continued dedication of Delta and their employees to our lifesaving mission. Thank you for your commitment, compassion and enthusiasm for making a difference. Your blood program helps us ensure that patients across the country have access to essential blood whenever and wherever needed.”
Throughout the 2024 fiscal year, Delta hosted 373 blood drives across 83 locations and added seven new drive locations, expanding our support in the communities where we live, work and serve.
“Thank you to everyone who makes a difference by rolling up their sleeves to give blood and help save lives all year long – and a special thanks goes out to our blood drive program leaders for their commitment to making every drive and every unit count,” said Tad Hutcheson, Managing Director – Community Engagement.
In addition to blood donations, Delta is an Annual Disaster Giving Program donor at the $1 million level, allowing the Red Cross to be strategic and proactive in disaster response. The Red Cross is Delta's longest standing not-for-profit partnership dating back to 1941 when Delta people donated and carried blood in WWII.
