Delta Air Lines deepens community impact in South Florida through environmental partnership

Share

Delta Air Lines is strengthening its ties to the South Florida community through impactful environmental partnerships and hands-on volunteer programs. One standout initiative is the airline’s ongoing collaboration with the MANG Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring coastal ecosystems through mangrove planting and education. Delta has proudly partnered with MANG for the past five years, supporting their mission to protect and revitalize Florida’s coastlines.

Delta brought together a group of enthusiastic volunteers—including employees and customers—for two meaningful events: a mangrove planting on April 10 and an educational session on April 22. These efforts help restore critical habitats, improve water quality, and protect shorelines from erosion and storm damage. This initiative is part of Delta’s Global Volunteer Month, during which the airline is offering more than 100 volunteer opportunities in celebration of its Centennial. The mangrove planting also aligns with Earth Month, as it is one of many environment-focused events Delta organized throughout April.

“Partnering with MANG Foundation is important for us because it allows Delta to give back in a tangible way, while promoting sustainability and resilience in communities we serve,” said Ignacio Borbolla, Delta’s Regional Manager. “This collaboration reflects our values and the deep connection we have with the people and the environment of South Florida.”

Delta’s work in the region also includes a valuable partnership with Clean Miami Beach, a nonprofit focused on reducing plastic pollution and raising environmental awareness. Through beach cleanups and educational activities, including micro-plastic art workshops, Delta employees and local volunteers help remove harmful debris from the coast while inspiring change through creative learning experiences.

These initiatives highlight how collective action, from planting mangroves to cleaning beaches, can lead to meaningful environmental progress. Delta’s partnerships in South Florida show that when businesses, local organizations, and individuals come together, they can drive positive change for both people and the community.
