Delta was recognized on this year’s PEOPLE Companies that Care List, ranking 30th out of 100 companies on the list. Delta is the only airline on the list.

The deep care and willingness of Delta people to go above and beyond for each other, the communities where they live and work, and the environment is behind its placement on the 2024 PEOPLE Companies That Care List

"The power of what we can do together as one team is unmatched,” said Joanne Smith, Chief People Officer. “Our people-first culture starts and ends with each of our 100,000 incredible team members, who are tireless in their commitment to our customers, to each other, and in our communities through giving, volunteering, and working to protect our environment.”

A few of the many ways Delta goes above and beyond:

  • Delta people specialize in caring for others, whether taking care of customers or each other. The Delta Care and Scholarship Funds, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit – led and managed by Delta employees – providing financial grants to Delta people when facing a sudden, unexpected personal crisis. Since its inception, the Care Fund has given more than $31 million in grants to Delta employees, retirees and survivors.
  • Behind the Wings is an immersion program that allows corporate employees to see how the frontline operations run and support their peers. Since launching in 2023, more than 5,500 employees have lent a hand totaling 23,000 hours.
  • One of Delta’s most unique fundraising events is Jet Drag, an annual event aimed at raising money for Relay for Life, benefiting the American Cancer Society. Teams of employees from around the world train, fundraise and fly to Atlanta in a competition to be the fastest to pull a Boeing 757. Delta’s and American Cancer Society’s 22nd year of partnering, the teams raised a record $1.39 million (and counting) in one year and more than $20 million over two decades – all for the fight against cancer.
  • Delta people’s steadfast commitment to life-giving blood drives made the airline the No. 1 corporate blood drive sponsor of the American Red Cross for the seventh consecutive year, with employees, retirees and customers contributing a record 15,585 units of blood in fiscal year 2024 (FYE 6/30).
  • Delta’s partnership with the Best Defense Foundation culminated in a flight to Normandy to recognize the 80th anniversary of D-Day. Delta people supported charter flights with multiple veterans who flew to Normandy for what is likely their last time.
  • Delta recently held the inaugural Sustainable Skies Challenge, an ambitious project in partnership with Junior Achievement (JA) Europe. The challenge aimed to formulate innovative sustainable aviation solutions among Europe's brightest young minds. Delta’s partnership with Junior Achievement spans 30 chapters across five continents to teach students financial literacy, career readiness and entrepreneurship.
