In partnership with Atlanta Habitat for Humanity, over 800 Delta volunteers built four new homes this fall alongside four homeowners in Browns Mill Village — a special community made possible by the grants of a few corporations and foundations, including The Delta Air Lines Foundation, which shared the vision to complete an entire Habitat subdivision over time. Delta has now built a total of 12 homes in Browns Mill Village and has built or rehabbed a total of 287 homes with Habitat for Humanity.

"At Delta, our mission to connect the world creates opportunities, fosters understanding and expands horizons by connecting people and communities to each other and to their own potential," said Emmakate Young, head of Brand at Delta. “Becoming a homeowner is not easy, and as it becomes more challenging for families in Atlanta to make this dream a reality, it makes me proud that Delta people have had a hand in this work. But no one has worked harder to see this process through than the four new homeowners. Thank you for allowing Delta to be a part of your journey to homeownership.”

Zhonvieve, one of the four Habitat homeowners, had this to say about the experience: “Homeownership to me means safety, community and building tradition. Delta came and showed up and showed out! Their employees were so upbeat, eager and wanted to help. I am so grateful to Habitat and Delta for their support in building my home. I am overcome with joy, happiness and to have a safe environment where I can raise my daughter. “

"Delta is the partner every organization dreams of, and Atlanta Habitat is incredibly fortunate to have a partner that cares deeply, serves enthusiastically, and gives generously,” said Rosalyn Merrick, President and CEO of Atlanta Habitat for Humanity. “We are grateful for Delta's deep commitment to our mission to empower and transform generations of working families through affordable homeownership."

Delta volunteers have helped build or rehab 287 homes across 13 countries with Habitat for Humanity since 1995, believing that affordable housing plays a critical role in strong and stable communities. That includes 12 Habitat for Humanity homes built with funds raised from Delta on-board recycling and TechOps oil recycling programs. The process of building these homes educates volunteers and homeowners about the importance of sustainability efforts in creating a promising future.
