Global Volunteer Month at Delta: People, purpose and partnership
During this year's Global Volunteer Month, Delta employees and SkyMiles Members joined volunteer events with the airline's nonprofit partners across the globe.
Delta’s third annual Global Volunteer Month effort in April has quickly become a cornerstone for how the brand shows up to make a difference in communities. All month long, employees and SkyMiles Members joined volunteer events with Delta’s nonprofit partners across the globe.
This year, more than 100 SkyMiles Members participated in volunteer events across the country, extending the mission beyond Delta people and to the people we strive to serve every day — our customers. Since 2024, Delta has mobilized more than 8,000 employees across over 40 cities, partnering with 150+ nonprofit organizations and contributing 15,000+ hours of service worldwide during Global Volunteer Month.
This April was no different, bringing Delta people together in their shared mission to serve the places they call home.
“Giving back to the communities we serve is an important part of Delta’s mission to connect the world,” said CEO Ed Bastian. “I could not be prouder of the ways our people are showing up, leading with heart, living our values, and creating a lasting impact.”
Volunteers’ impact goes far beyond the numbers. More than 700 trees planted will help improve air quality and create healthier neighborhoods. The thousands of pounds of food sorted and packed will provide nearly 30,000 meals for families facing food insecurity. The playground volunteers built and murals they painted will create safer, more welcoming spaces for children to gather and play. The youth they mentored will help the next generation prepare for their future jobs. And nearly 5,000 lives will be saved, thanks to employees and customers donating more than 1,580 pints of blood at blood drives across the country. In just one month, Delta people demonstrated that even the smallest acts of service can change a life.
We also continued the tradition of recognizing over 70 employee volunteers who went above and beyond in their commitment to community, dedicating nearly 3,000 hours of personal time to service in 2025.
Giving back has long been part of Delta’s culture. With service to 290 destinations across six continents, Delta’s reach is global, but its approach to volunteerism remains locally focused, ensuring efforts meet real community needs for education, sustainability, health and wellness. That’s why Delta gives back to hundreds of nonprofit partners worldwide, not just during Global Volunteer Month but every day. For Delta, volunteering is not a moment; it’s a movement rooted in the belief that connecting people means uplifting the communities that connect us all.
