Innovation in Incheon: From robot guides to robot food delivery

Learn about the robot helpers in Incheon Airport that provide invaluable assistance to customers across their travel journeys.

Arriving and wayfinding in a large international airport in a foreign country might be a daunting experience. At Incheon International Airport in Seoul, Delta customers may find the experience smoother thanks to some futuristic helpers: robots.

These robot helpers guide and transport customers, carry their luggage and even deliver food. Robot helpers also speak multiple languages including Korean, English, Japanese and Chinese to accommodate as many customers as possible.

Airstar Robot

The Airstar Robot is a guidance automation assistant with cutting-edge technology -- including autonomous driving, voice recognition and artificial intelligence. If you tell the Airstar robot your flight number, it will direct you to the correct counter and even escort you if you prefer. If you need help understanding what items are not allowed on carry-on luggage, wish to know the locations of certain duty-free shops or need directions to the correct boarding gate, the Airstar Robot has you covered. The Airstar Robot even has a camera to take commemorative photos for customers, which can be sent via email or SMS messages. 

Air Porter Robot

The baggage-carrying Air Porter Robot is located in the duty-free area that scans boarding passes. The robot can follow customers or take the lead if they need directions. 

Air Ride Robot

The Air Ride Robot is a self-driving vehicle that transports customers who are elderly or have disabilities to their correct boarding gates with a simple touch of a screen. The robot is also located in the duty-free zone. 

Air Dilly Robot

The Air Dilly Robot is a food delivery service inside the duty-free area. Customers waiting at a boarding gate can scan the QR codes displayed on nearby seats or guidebooks to order food and drinks to their location – no need to wander in search of a restaurant. 

More innovation is on the way: Incheon International Airport Corporation is working with Doosan Robotics to research new technologies to enhance the customer experience.

Increased connectivity from SLC to ICN

Delta is boosting its global footprint with the launch of its first-ever nonstop service from Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) to Seoul-Incheon International Airport (ICN) on June 12, 2025. With this addition, Delta — together with partner Korean Air— offers access to Seoul from 14 U.S. gateways, providing the most extensive reach across Asia through the ICN hub compared to any other trans-Pacific joint venture. This route also further solidifies Delta’s position as the largest long-haul foreign carrier at Incheon, enhancing its already unmatched reach across Asia.
