Amid a trying time caused by a weak economy in 1982, Delta needed a new plane to take advantage of growing demand for international travel. Led by three flight attendants and spearheaded by Delta employees as a way of expressing their appreciation for the company, “Project 767” raised enough money to purchase Delta’s first Boeing 767.
